There ARE no 'guarantees' in life, but THIS ONE is pretty good: *When you are dead* you no longer have a 'mentality'.** And that's what big, long and bloody civil wars do: they KILL PEOPLE. Also... they tend to FOCUS the minds of the new generation upon the enemy at hand. In this case, Sunnis & Shias... Arabs and Persians and Kurds and Turkomen... and Saudis & Iranians.... "Only an ostrich...." EXACTLY. Only an ostrich could fail to see the utterly obvious: 'divide and conquer' is one of the OLDEST LESSONS of warfare that mankind has learned. (Another good one is that foreign occupiers are seldom popular with the locals.)
