Not crazy, just greedy and looking for a better yield -- that is, until the principal disappears and that great yield turns into a 99% capital loss.

It's a Canadian tradition to be stupid in this fashion, and in this case it has been helped along by the Federal finance minister, for it was he who killed the domestic trust market and is therefore driving investors like Ontario Teachers offshore in search of yield.

I find this doubly funny that Teachers is off to Europe -- when the trusts were in vogue, at least the high-yield seeking money stayed home where it could be stolen by other Canadians instead of foreigners
