I forget the exact details, I had several exchanges with one of their VP's, though not from Engineering.

I would have been able to meet up with the engineering team in Manhattan, but that fell through.

If they show up in the bat area. let me know. I have some questions I would LOVE to ask them. I have a feeling I will be "escorted" out br security though. I doubt they will want to answer then.

Evidently you can charge it everyday & the expected life (at full power) is over 100,000 miles, probably 125,000.
Why don't they KNOW????
5 min/charge is cited later. Is that 5 min/cell or 5 min for the whole battery? Makes a BIG difference. Of course, 5 min to charge the whole battery would cause anything short of an industrial circuit breaker to throw up.
teslamotors.com
That says "as little as 3.5 hours".

The story is that they haven't had to replace a battery yet.
How long is "yet" How many cars are actually running the streets? How far have they gone? How far has the longest run been?

There isn't an available number for the price.
Interesting. That means the car doesn't exist except as a test model at best.
BUT how about $92K?
teslamotors.com

I would guess it to be several thousand. Maybe $3,000 or so.
And I hear $9K+.

I'd expect that to drop by the time one had to be replaced.
THAT depends. If the battery is using scarce materials, the demand it itself generates can drive up the price.

Using it as a second car it might take me 10 years to roll 100,000 miles.
How many people can afford $90K for a SECOND car. Most can't afford that for #1.

-------------

Charge runs about 350 miles. I think many of these specs are on the website.
I hear 200.
teslamotors.com
That says "more than 200".

"Does the Tesla Roadster come with a roof?"
Now THAT, you have to admit, is an interesting question for a "manufacturer" to be asking itself.

Evidently you can charge it everyday & the expected life (at full power) is over 100,000 miles, probably 125,000. At this point it will still operate but performance will fall off.

-------------

The toxic waste would be the battery. The battery is supposed to be recyclable, but I have no idea what the ancillary environmental issues are with respect to manufacture.
Yeah. You got it. Wherever they make those batteries, if it's in the US, it's a Superfund site.

Electricity is supplied through house current, plus the optional solar panel.
Evasion. How is that electricity MADE?

-------------

Toyota is obviously less expensive & more available. I would imagine one would do a cost analysis to consider where the price of gasoline & motor oil would have to be to formulate a breakeven.
Come on. That motor DOES have moving parts. THEY HAVE TO BE OILED!

Of course, you should have fewer dollars spent in maintenance due to the few moving parts in the power plant vis a vie the gasoline engine.?
Rotor. Transmission. Universal joint. That's for starters.

--------------

Last I checked, two weeks ago.....an order today would deliver a Tesla in 13 months.
teslamotors.com
"fall of 2007.' Bet they don't make it.

In the can are plans fo sedan, and a larger family car.</i?
You got a motorcycle now? The Tesla is as TWO-SEATER!

I intended to do some engineering analysis of this thing. However, there is SO MUCH missing information that even informed guesses are impossible.
