in new history books as the "dark age" -g- All Lenin statues
were removed, and there were a lot of them. However, I
believe Lenin's corpse is still on display, which was
done against his own will (to be buried).

Totalitarian rule was not fun. You could not say anything
without the fear of KGB.

And yes, there were periodic regional elections, but you
always had to vote for a single candidate, so few people
attended. That changed after Gorbachev came. -ggg-
