OT I wonder if you can find any old Lenin statues on eBay. I think eBay has already cleaned out all available Russian Orthodox icons. But I have not actually looked to see. When Bertrand Russell visited Russia as a young man, he met Lenin. Lenin told him how he had stirred up the poorer farmers to massacre the kulaks (the more enterprising and prosperous farmers). "They hung them from the nearest lamp post, hee, hee, hee!" said Lenin. Russell said it made his blood run cold. Maybe one of the worst things about communism was its savagely anti-elitist elitism. I guess there was almost a thousand years of privilege and oppression to revolt against.

Anyway, even Spinoza, a most resolute materialist for whom God and nature were identical, believed ardently that the best thing a human being could do was to pursue his own interests (respecting the social and legal order and allowing them to be accommodated to other people's interests).

Liberty, equality, and fraternity are rather Utopian. I say instead, "Truth, Freedom, and Capitalism."

Long live the freedom to create bubbles and manias! The Chinese are having a ball.
