Let me ask you this, why are you in ME?
Good question.
Except to keep the oil flowing and keep the bad boys who rule you and sell the oil to us propped up, I am increasingly of the opinion that we should let you live in your own festering sinkhole because history is showing us that you are hopeless.
You wish to be ruled by despots? Fine by me! You wish to continue to keep women down? Fine by me! Hack heads and limbs? Fine by me! Bugger goats and camels? Fine by me! Invent nothing, teach nothing, produce nothing? Fine by me! Pay us for luxury goods? Fine by me! Buy expensive military equipment you can't use? Fine by me! Import gasoline? Fine by me! [Insert as necessary] Fine by me!
Look around you.
The Asians are progressing marvelously after being in a more or less equal position as you are and have been in the last 50 years. Ditto the Indians. Ditto Brazil and many other Latin American countries.
The Germans, Japanese and Russians have had their lands completely razed and are now miles and miles ahead of you.
What's the problem? How could a culture that was so predominant centuries ago fallen so behind? The ME, along with sub-Saharan Africa, is the ass end of the global dog despite trillions in oil wealth. What's up with that?
What the f*** happened to you guys? How could you screw things up so badly?
I'll give you a clue.
You don't see reality for what it is. Rather than admit that you have a problem, a fact obvious to anyone who looks at things objectively, you make up excuses and fantasies rather than deal with things as you should.
You fall stupidly behind every pimpoid dictator who promises you that he is The Guy Who Will Set It All Straight, or are intimidated and powerless behind a pimpoid dictator in a big hat and a big mustache who terrorizes you. You expect this and accept the consequences.
Morons like the Saudi royals, the Assads, the Nassers, the Saddams, the nut from Libya, Khomeini, Ahmadinejad, etc., have their way with you because you don't know any other way. Deep down you like being manipulated. |
