I'm not against unions, but I'm kind of lukewarm on them. They have such a history of corruption. I read a study where small, local unions and even non-union organization were much more effective than large, national unions at raising workers pay and improving conditions.

Here where I live, there are more jobs than workers and the economy is really booming. "Help Wanted" signs are everywhere and the jobs most in need of workers are the ones that pay the least. Almost every small merchant is short handed.

I ate in an Arby's and they had a sign, "Name Your Price" - they offered to pay someone more than they made now to work there.

It's almost enough to make me want to get another job!

I think if we could really ban illegals, the upward pressure on low paid jobs would be enormous, and would ripple up through the wage scales.
