My mother was terrified to die and even moreso when she learned that Dad had signed to have them both cremated..

However, near the end of her life, stone deaf, incontinent and
wheel chair bound I think she welcomed it. Besides which she was so out of it mentally by then that she did not know what was happening to her.

However, I think parents can instill that fear in children as I still grapple with death.
