You're right, maybe it was a Freudian slip... I really don't know if prices are "manipulated" in that way, but they do seem as if they are, so maybe I did mean to say that at some level... I guess the manipulation comes in with the taxes added to the cost, that component of the price is certainly manipulated... otherwise, I think the market probably sets the price through supply and demand... China is now a big consumer of oil, so prices are higher for that reason alone... if prices were actually manipulated, then I would imagine the oil companies would have set their prices higher earlier...
