I consider myself a Libertarian, but a practical one.

If we could go back 100 years or so and "disinvolve" ourselves from all the foreign entanglements we're currently in, maybe that would be a good thing. But, we can't go back that century to undo what's been done.

We can't just pack up and leave from Iraq, nor from S.Korea, Germany, Japan, et al. We're THERE. And, like it or not, because of how history has transpired, world stability depends on our international presence.

Maybe the best thing for the US to do would be to withdraw from all those places, I don't know. But I DO know that it would require another century to remove our presence without causing unbelievable chaos.
