I am glad she didn't suffer much. All of us are not going to get out of this world alive..........the best we can hope for is to leave without much physical pain and suffering. I think we all instinctively hope for survival and we probably need to give it a chance and keep hope alive. It's very hard just to sit back and let nature take it's course, especially when that someone is dear to us. It was hard for me to accept my sister's decision to go to hospice and give up on medical treatment other then pain meds. You did what you thought was best and it probably was best for you both at that time. We all know that hindsight is 20/20.
