Actually, I have just begun following this company -- it hit one of my screens, and I likethe chart. I personally go after distressed companies with a good chance for a turnaround. Kind of a radical value investor, if you will. Currently, am bullish on GVIL (got in at around $2. Expect to go back to the 7-8 range. Check out the thread on that one.) Was also big on PLAT when it was depressed down to 12, and rode it to 23. SSAX was another for my screen: it hit 3 7/8 and then took me back up to the 15 range.
I put ALRT in the GVIL category for a turnaround. B. Joseph Messner has a great reputation, and made some good moves when he first came on board. The lack of a UL approved design in my mind happens the carbon monoxide detector side; but from what I read they are close to a new design. They are getting their losses down and have the new credit facility -- which is good, but last weeks product recall of the True-fit gates are going to cost them about $54K. Not a big deal, actually. But not good PR, either.
Great brand name, etc. I still need to crawl deeper into the financials and develop my analyst information network, but will report when I find anything.
If there are any regulars on this thread, I am serious about this company and would like to get this thread talking on a regular basis.
Cheers, and I think we might have a winner here.....over time,
Richard
