Therefore, when the trend is shows downward, it will continue to go down, no matter how good the company is during that period of time.

So shares that go up should always continue to do so, and vice versa?
And over what period would you measure the trend? minutes, hours, days, weeks, years?

TA may affect a stock momentarily, but only over the short term, say weeks; over months and years, rumour, news and facts will win in that order.
