Gemstone, re: "If this is the best we can expect on FADG now that the 'New FADG' thread is active, I predict this one will fall into ruin. I will lurk for a while though just in case some interesting discussions surface.

The main intent of the Jlallen's is evidently to taunt, aggravate and derail. For some reason this qualifies as "fun" for them. I guess it's fun for us too since many of us continue to play their game.

Unfortunately, most of us don't have the capacity to enjoy 3rd grade level taunting endlessly. They are the "stronger" team in that respect.

If we must play, and we evidently must..me included..., it's a good idea to make a point and get out.

The continued back and forth discourse gives them opening after opening to misinterpret posts, feign outrage, reinterpret their earlier posts and generally build straw men and, of course, straw women. And it gives them openings to engage in numerous "yuk-yuk," "got em there," self congratulatory postings that would be laughable if it didn't fill the thread with unpleasant writings.

They're like a colony of bacteria, when they reach a certain level they're very hard to control and there's no one here who can scrape them off.

But of course they do have one teensy problem; when it comes to posting anything of substance they have been so wrong, so often, that they can't even pretend to have any credibility.

And no amount of "neener, neener" posts will ever change that sad fact.

But I don't think they'll ruin the thread completely. When there's something new to talk about the thread will come back. Right now there's a lot of news but it generally follows a clear pattern that's emerged over the last year: A war gone bad, incompetence in government, corruption in government, the fall of the Bush insiders and the 08 election field.

Sometimes those issues wear new clothes but they're simply repeating and there's no real debate over the facts. Those who once held viewpoints that diverged from reality have moved much closer to those with more pragmatic viewpoints....even Bill. There are still flashes of light but the thread may not come alive again until we have something to discuss that's fresh.

Until then...hold your noses and happy mud wrestling. Ed
