Companies that announce buybacks are not obliged to follow through. Some companies announce buybacks because they are cash-rich and their stock is undervalued. These companies ususally do follow through on their intent to "buyback". Obviously, we're not talking about Corel here.

Companies that are cash poor and have overvalued stocks, are trying to hype their stock. They have no intention of fully fulfilling their intention to buyback. It's another, ususally in a string of ploys, to manipulate unwary investors that may have a misguided loyalty to the company. Oviously, we are talking about Corel here.

I'd love to short Corel, but the potential return is too small. If I had a long position I would sell, and not be duped by Cowpland's doubletalk.

Best of luck !!
