Congrats to Curlin for winning The Preakness. That was a great race. I like Street Sense and Calvin Borel, but I hate when any horse is a prohibitive favorite. They are critters who have good days and bad. There are tracks they like and those they dislike and those they are neutral about. Only a super horse should win The Triple Crown, and though both horses are great horses, they are not super.

One sad thing I'm seeing is the deterioration of Funny Cide's skills. He won The Kentucky Derby and The Preakness in 2003, but, lately, he has not been able to win even ungraded stakes races. He is 7 years old, so he should have about 3 more years of racing in him. He's a gelding, so he can't go out to stud, something I discovered for myself after I retired. <G> As long as he remains healthy, I suppose they'll race down through Allowance and claiming levels. The good news is, this may be the only chance we'll ever have of seeing a Derby and Preakness winner run competitively at Sam Houston Race Park.
