<<This piece said the justice dept is suing NAR over the MLS over essentially noncompetitive practices- I didn't know that>>

NAR doesn't set policy or practices or laws for each of the 50 states. Also, there is no such thing as "THE" MLS. MLS systems are unique to the areas they cover and the brokerage firms which own and pay for their operation.

A little more light and a little less heat would go a long way toward education on this subject. I noticed the Wash Post this weekend did its own continual thing to propagate misinformation on the entire topic of real estate commissions, yet also did provide some useful and accurate info in certain respects which few average consumers probably will pay any attention to or understand.

After decades of watching this exact same debate over real estate MLS policies and commissions, I've concluded no one in the media or the general public is going to understand the subject fully and intelligently enough to discuss it. That's why the debate and threats of government legal action have gone on for decades. I predict the debate will rage for decades in the future, while the business just sort of runs along as usual for the benefit of both buyers and sellers. If anyone could fundamentally change it in an economically feasible and rational way, it would have been changed long ago.

Where are all the supposedly outraged, screwed, disgruntled buyers and sellers in this debate? NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.
