Its hardly surprising that a more aggressive stance gets more of our people killed. OTOH a more passive stance, while it might save lives (at least American lives) in the short run, accomplishes nothing and results in more deaths in the long or maybe even medium run. The main issue I have with the surge was why it wasn't done earlier. and is likely to be the bloodiest May But not the bloodiest month, or even close to it. Why does it matter much if past May's where less violent if other months where more violent? Does someone injured or killed really care that it happened in May rather then March or June?
