Ahhhh, the beginnings of a definition of torture.
KLP: "How does one compare a stoning, or a beheading, with panties on the head????
GEM: They are not comparable and I would never make that attempt. One of them is a brutal execution, one is a quick death execution and the third is embarrassing. I'm not sure any of them qualify as torture.
All these examples have emotional damage of greater and the last in much lesser degrees.
The stoning definitely is torture, IMO. If ONE huge stone was dropped on her head, it would be murder. BUT since hundreds of stones are thrown to inflict pain, cuts, bruises, broken bones, blood clots, and any number of other things BEFORE she is finally killed, I would define this murder as torture AND murder.
A beheading, without painkilling drugs, is both torture and murder, IMO. It hasn't been done by one fell swoop, so to speak. It has been done by hacking and sawing, and chopping, and finally getting the head off. The person endured unbelievable pain and suffering in the process. That is DEFINITELY torture IMO. It ends in murder.
Panties on the head is not torture IMO. No blood, pain, broken bones, blood clots, etc were endured. No death occurred. Just stupidity on the part of the guards, and emotional trauma to a mild degree of the prisoner. |
