Looked at Vitalstream's website yesterday, but couldn't find anything about patents. vitalstream.com And nothing on the Internap website either. Everstream's patent portfolio dates back to the days of the internet bubble, when few people were really looking at the potential for online advertising or music streaming. Everstream has been apparently trying to create Ad insert and reporting technology that would serve the VOD marketplace. Some folks perceive they desire to replace Nielsen for the purposes of tracking ratings. However, apparently there are still some legal hurdles to overcome since FCC regulations prohibit collecting information on viewers. But I think this rule is likely to be changed in the near future. The cable companies certainly want to possess the means to better track their viewers, as well as targeting ads effectively to a receptive audience. Hawk
