Not only does Ashcroft have ties to the Christian right, he vigorously defends the 2nd Amendment, so of course the left hates him. But it's nice to see the WaPo at least try to be a little rational in their treatment of him. Three different reporters had a hand in that article, that might be where some of the dissonance came in. I've always thought of Susan Schmidt as a pretty good reporter.

I wonder why they're suddenly being so nice....
