What's your point, China doesn't need or shouldn't have a strong military? After the US has invaded two countries in their neighbourhood and is threatening to attack a third, in the interests of securing control of important resources? They'd need their heads read if they didn't beef up their defences. Of course it's "troubling" to the US military, because they'd rather have unchallenged military dominance. Well, those days are gone forever, I'd say. I'd also argue that the world becomes a safer place when China can match the US militarily. Since the current US regime has clearly stated, and demonstrated, it's policy of pre-emptive attacks, it seems that nothing will keep it in check except another strong counterbalancing force.
