Nice to dream, but the chances are next to nil, IMO. Much more likely: Lucent, Hayes, Diamond, Boca. Less likely suitors, but more likely than 3Com would be Ascend, or even CRockwell themselves.

I don't think MOT used their foundries for modem chipsets, instead using CRockwell cheap chips. Thus, the only value is the name franchise(s), which I doubt could retain the Motorola brand name. Lucent wants inroads to networking, and they have certainly seen the advantage of controlling both ends of the connection. And, they make their own chipsets, and are not a supplier to MOT.
