ok, thank you. i'm saying similar things to both you and john, and repeat myself--but you both reiterate each other's position, at least toward what i've written.
simple clear boundaries and definitions make life easier. but in a world perhaps doomed to be pluralistic, one person's prohibitions merely are another's permission. i agree there are absolutes, such as the laws of thermodynamics, as they apply here on earth.
i used the word porn because i knew it would have a certain impact; i didn't say porn goes down easy; i said, whatever type of porn a person uses--to move pleasure, or pain, within the body so that a conditioning takes place--goes down easy. the person will gravitate to it, habituate to it, and use it as a reference point from which to judge others, and hrimself, and such judging is porn.
to define what is porn for you, merely look at yourself. what do you like, or hate? ... moreover, what do you lust to like, or lust to hate; for ex, making money in the market? how much research, worry, and sweat do you need to put out before making money in the market feels like "work"? and therefore feels justified--like you deserve the money, for taking the risk, or for being clever yet honest, or for being--as Mark Ritchie's book, quoted by john implies--"God's" angellic trader in the pits.
this all started when i read john's post discussing "being led by the flesh". he was going to consult authoritarian scriptures to delve into it; i detected no irony in what i thought was a non-sequitor of his where he signs off saying he is going to take a pinch of Skoal ... why seek the words of others to describe your life, when the answer always lies within? |
