Hmmmm.........how come the author continues to live in a small CT village 90 miles north of the NYC?

He doesn't practice what he preaches. Still doesn't mean he's wrong.


Of course, he doesn't practice what he preaches........the excitement of NYC wears thin after a few years unless you have enough money to live high above the city. And so, by his measure, Nairobi is even 'greener' than NYC but green only in the sense that less energy is consumed per capita. And for me, that's only part of the definition of green. After all, what is the point of living 'green'or otherwise if your environment is unpleasant.

Again, I have nothing against density.......I agree it can reduce energy consumption but I also believe it can be done in a way that allows for a pleasant living environment. To me, a better model is a Paris/a London/a San Fran is a better model than NYC.
