From briefing, NTEL CORP. (INTC) 80 1/4 CLOSED. Stock likely to open higher this morning as Smith Barney has upgraded issue, making some positive remarks about bellwether tech stock. Firm has upgraded issue to an "outperform" from a "neutral" and such upgrade should help stock and possibly sector this morning. While issue has backed-off its high of $83 1/4, issue continues to trade at a very high multiple, certainly well above its historical premium. Yet, given how poorly other semiconductors have performed of late, issue has become a haven for many investors. Thus, issue should do well today, although upside potential is limited at current prices.
