Speaking of Kellie she looks been badly used and abused, and her first song overflowed with anger... which seemed genuine. She's getting panned everywhere, but I liked her last night. Never really paid much attention to her before. It was fun to think of her standing up to Clive Davis. Her Never Again was one of the few numbers last night that didn't sound like "product." Tony Bennett -- man, it's so nice to see someone inspiring all that love and admiration. Bette Midler -- maybe needs some Tony Bennett lessons? Loved watching Melinda when Gladys Knight came out. Noticed Glady's positive reaction when Lakisha turned it on. Was nice to see the guys digging their backup roles behind Smokey Robinson. A good-spirited bunch. They seem like old friends now, like I've been watching them for years instead of weeks. Lots of character. On the dark side: What's up with all the cruelty and sadism that's been slipping into TV programming lately? Putting up that picture of a bushbaby?! What's next -- Everybody Loves Caligula?
