If you want to change the subject, then just do so explicitly. Don't act like you have been, pretending that your new point, even if arguably more important, proves anything about the other issue. Ideally when your shown to be wrong, you should acknowledge it. Perhaps with a statement like "ok I was wrong about that, but the real problem is...". But I suppose that would be too much to ask for, and I'd have no problem settling for you just keeping the issues straight and not pretending that you have proven X to be wrong with a statement about Y.
so we can ignore the fact that we just have made this the BLOODIEST MAY for our troops since the invasion and occupation of Iraq started in 2003
Who's ignoring it. You've probably posted in dozens of times. I've replied to the idea, I haven't ignored it. Bloodiest May, means little. Bloodiest month would have more meaning, but doesn't automatically indicate things are getting worse. Often casualties go up when you take a more aggressive approach, but that's the only way to win. If you stay passive for ever, in a war zone, you may take less casualties per day, but the war never ends (or only ends in your defeat) and you'll take more casualties over all. |
