Some years ago Mel Gibson went 'round the bend on graphic pain and violence as far as I am concerned. First noticed it in a nasty little flick called "Payback." A couple of years earlier "Braveheart" showed some fairly heavy duty graphic torture and suffering, but hey, it was olde Scotland and England. Then the Patriot came out and it was basically a mano a mano shoot, cut and torturefest. At that point I decided old Mel has a serious pain and violence fetish going on.
Mel Gibson is such a talented guy but he has some real issues that show up on the screen.
For that reason I will pass on Apocalypto, even though the premise is interesting. If you see it, let us know how you liked it, but I'll pass. The US Army gave me plenty to see in the violence/pain and suffering department. Been there, seen that
