The feelings and patriotism of the WWII generation was so much greater than it is today. Imagine anyone registering for the draft today, let alone when he/she was 59!!! Many of our young people in their 20's are very patriotic, and this group seems to be comprised of two different groups. The spike n' nail n' tatoo group, and the other kids who are involved in school, learning, and willing to help others as they can.
The boomer group is another story altogether. A good many of this group currently runs Congress....
My own Dad tried to enlist, but was 4 F'd. I remember the day he came home, and was so dejected. On Ancestry, I have found records from the Rev War, the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. I found my Dad's cousin, who was killed in WWII, and a marker now is in the Phillipines where their ship was sunk in 1942. His family didn't know what had happened to him for several years.
They didn't have ABC then telling classified info to the entire world. |
