So far there are now four reasons (other than the total lack of nutritional value) to avoid soft drinks,

1. preservatives may cause cancer
2. HFCS sweeteners may affect leptin and caused uncontrolled eating
3. soda drinks may leach vitamins and render them ineffective.
4. there may be a contribution to osteoporosis
