The many problems of Mpeg4/h.264/avc may be summed up as encoder bugs, so that decoder can not decode. Apple quick time for ipod may be one of the best encoder. Anyway, many hardware encoders(video capture cards) have to be tried to see how they perform on Mpeg4/h.264/avc decoders. The HDTV simply requires too much processing power. And the more pixel data compression, the more bugs possible. So, the zooming ratio would be a way out, after perfect decompression.
