Dave, re <Gateway lays off 300 employees> This seems to correlate with the information that HP drops their prices on P-II machines to be competetive with lower priced but equally performing Socket-7 computers. It is clear that this proce drop goes at the expense of PC makers and lowers their profit margins. Result - lay offs. Who is next? HP? Dell? Compaq?
