I agree with you in that intrarticular HA is probably not expensive. The three shots which would be given weekly should add up to about $300 if I remember correctly. For 6 months worth of relief thats $50/month sounds reasonable to me. Particularly knowing that the cost to the US economy for osteoarthritis is about $55 billion in lost wages, production and direct costs per year, with 16 million Americans affected thats about $3K/yr/patient. It should also go well with insurance companies who are trying to avoid the 225,000 knee replacement surgeries for OA/yr.
