Politics and science do not play well together.

Is there any alternative? Scientists need money to:

1. Live
2. Support their families
3. Actually do some research that will allow them to get the money for "1" and "2".

Whether the money comes from Govenment, Foundations or Corporations, those scientists will always need to provide "adequate" research or they won't get renewed/additional funding.

I just don't see a solution.
