Me too on the spaceflight stuff -- very uplifting for young minds -- I don't think I started becoming a cynic until the latter part of the 60s courtesy of watching Howard K Smith report the daily kill statistics from Vietnam on the 6:30PM ABC news like they some sort of football score.

After the moon landing in 69 I guess it was tough to come up with an encore to keep distracting everyone
