With the news release this past couple of days about the torture chambers in Iraq, I am confident that we will see a dramatic turn of empathy away from the Al-Qaeda backed Sunni Insurgencies in Iraq.

This will mark the final turning of the tide toward support of a national government in Iraq and away from the various rival insurgent groups. It will do so far more definitively than any combat victories, elections, improvements in infrastructure, or nefarious events.

The best way for America to prove me wrong would be to begin legally institutionalizing the use of torture within our Military.

Although not always efficient, our cause has been honorable. There is nothing honorable about torture and it is never justified by any incidental cause, it is in fact abhorrent to all of humanity across time and circumstance; and is, therefore, condemnable in all occurrences.

How any sentient and moral creature could imagine it could ever be otherwise is beyond me.
