The US dollar index was initially off about a third of a percent but recovered to unchanged on the back of the better consumer confidence data. However, the trade-weighted dollar slipped again to a new multiyear low at 104.01, which is its first daily close below its 200-month moving average (at 104.11) since the 1970s.
