I didn't say that the competition had a lead, I just said they had temporarily caught up in the chips most used today. Have you seen a Tilamook for sale in your local store? I doubt it. Are you ready to spend $4000 to get a PII 300, even if you can get one? I doubt it.
If you don't use benchmarks to measure performance, what do you use, TV psychics?
I don't think AMD or Cyrix are big threats yet, as I have said on this thread many times before. That doesn't mean they won't eventually become one, if Intel gives them the chance. It's Intels game to lose, not the competitions game to win.
It might be useful to reread my orioginal post detailing Intel's advantages.
