I think this thread is a subset of the red/blue problem in the US.
You have intolerant blue people posting nothing but hate for the administration, which causes red people to take exception, which leads invariably to human nature taking over and insults flying. You have a couple of posters that I like to actually "talk" with, a couple I have on ignore because they are total dolts, and then you have the open haters who, I consider, irrational in their hatred of Bush, which they put forth as a political stance.
When an article of interest is posted nowadays, it is often dismissed out of hand by certain posters because it brings a factual position to light that is against their personal belief. This is always painful and the reaction, on the internet, is to lash out and call it BS.
I just think you are seeing people being the people they can be when they are anonymous. Rest assured, had AS taken me up on the offer to come to St Louis and attend the NRA banquet, a $65 offer, it would have been treated with respect and not been called an idiot more than once or twice, instead of every sentence. However, since AS is part of several different people in a program, we know it is not free to roam about.
Anyway, you have polar opposites here, most are not interested in talking or hearing the "other side." |
