Roger/Choban-topic bokerage services:
Interesting to read your comments about Datek. I have been with Lombard (now Discover/Lombard) for a couple years. Have generally been satisfied with their service and ability to get stocks to short. Their internet is sometimes slower than phone. On the other hand, phone service occasionally takes 5 minutes or more if things are hopping. They have corrected trading errors quickly, even one that cost them more than my yearly commissions. I always place limit orders on the internet, so I pay $20 a trade up to 5K shares. I am leary of changing to a cheaper house because

1) Its not much, and I know the service could be much worse.

2) I trust their bookkeeping (they screwed up an order which cost them $$$, not my account), but I frankly don't check other than to log trades into my financial program.

On the other hand, I place about 300 trades a year, so I could save a few thousand bucks if I found somebody who could do the same for $10 a trade.
