In Florida where both the Governor and the Legislature are controlled by the GOP, there has been a strong push to slash property taxes and make up much of the lost revenue by sharply hiking sales taxes. Looks like the state will start to move in this direction but not yet to the extent that mansion owners want. The focus will be on cutting services rather than hiking sales taxes.
