glenn, I made these large purchases before. the uunet purchase indicates that they will be purchasing them by the end of 1997. I would negoiate the price and open po's for all the equipment with dates of delivery. but, I would get free reschedule rights on any po's as long as it was 30 days before the duedate. There is a std telecom contract and it's speciifes that reschedules can happen w/i a certain period. I would arrrange all po's on the books and then manage delivery when I needed it. the announcement said over and over again that the po's would be in 4q 97. I also think that no news release happens til the contract is signed but I don't think po's are in the system. If that gets in the backlog for 3q then it happens via an accural. I feel good about them rushing the contract to announce during this let down.
