Chris, > Did a little "liberal" rub off on you in Europe? Just a bit?

Not sure, but I did have a conversation with a taxi cab driver in Berlin who, when he found out I was from California, talked a lot about the Governator. Said he was astounded by the concept of a mere actor becoming governor, and that if Arnold could do it, a simple cabbie like him could do it as well.

To me, I always took for granted the concept that any citizen can and should serve in government, not just career politicians. I even told the cabbie that our President for most of the 80's was also an actor, to which he said that he was also astonished by that fact.

That, I imagined, was only the tip of the iceburg. Many core values that we Americans take for granted, but would be considered strange by European standards.
