I have often heard that Pearl harbour could have been stopped but that the president didn't stop it. Sorrow at the coming attack is redundant. We can know it is coming and prepare, but we should not seek to avoid it. Why? Because only when the rage of Americans is high enough will they begin to take the threat seriously. 9/11 didn't do it, although Americans got angry enough to make a half hearted effort to get some of the miscreants involved. Before the solution to the problem can become a reality, Americans have to see that they cannot survive without fixing the problem. The sooner the next attack on the US, the sooner we start to save the world. If we cannot deal with Islam on a peaceful basis the sooner we go to war, and the angrier we are, the sooner the problem is solved and the lower the body counts will be.
