My best guess is the anticipation of a good news release, but I'm not sure. I haven't contacted the company since my last post. I believe a fairly significant number of people watch DAK since I've met total strangers on the streets or in elevators who speak of DAK... obviously somebody's been in contact with the company and knows/expects something. I'll have to ask Richard how many investors call him up in a given week, as it appears a good amount of interest does exist. Maybe the bear is about to wake?

Anyway, the only other news to report is that I received Dakota's 3rd quarterly report for 1997 (Q ending June 30) about a week ago. It's not glamourous or exciting, but at least it's straight and to the point (and our money isn't being spent needlessly). It gives an overview of the company's activities and claims, as well as an abbreviated balance sheet. I applaud Richard and the company for taking the time to mail this info out (I believe anybody who has called the company and was added to their investors list received the report).

It looks like '97 has been a slow year and is dim compared to '96, but I'm hoping the months ahead hold promise. We'll see...

Ben
