The ADEPT® Solution
Adaptive Diagnostic Electronic Portable Testset (ADEPT®) is an intelligent, automated, programmable electronic test tool designed to aid technical personnel in the maintenance, alignment, calibration, and error diagnosis of complex electronic systems. Through the structured collection and analysis of test point measurements on a Unit Under Test (UUT), ADEPT: Aids in the detection and troubleshooting of error and out-of-alignment conditions Collects and analyzes maintenance data Identifies performance and out-of-tolerance trends Improves system readiness and operational performance Reduces manpower support requirements and life cycle supports costs through increase automation, distance support, and interactive training ADEPT puts a wide array of sophisticated test equipment at the maintenance technician’s fingertips, including a Digital Multimeter, Oscilloscope, and dual RF Power Meters.
ADEPT eliminates the need for traditional manuals, paper documentation and discrete test equipment and eases the burden on electronic technicians by integrating the required test equipment functionality and automating the testing processes. All necessary documentation is stored within ADEPT and presented to the user in a familiar “PMS Viewer” format. When a test step call for use of a test instrument, ADEPT opens the instrument control and display window and sets up the instrument for optimal test point measurement. A “known good” reference is presented to the user along with a pass/fail (within tolerance/requires adjustment) indication. Of course the user can always adjust the instrument setting for customized viewing, and the user can override ADEPT’s pass/fail recommendation. All operation and measurements are stored for after-action analysis, off-line training, and automatic data trending analysis for proactive remediation of potential error/out-of-tolerance conditions. Fully integrated within a Microsoft Windows® environment, ADEPT provides for Distance Support and is IEEE SCC-20 (ATML) compliant.
Developed under a U.S. Navy Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, the first target system for ADEPT is the AN/SPY-1 family of phased array radars. Other systems identified for possible integration into ADEPT are the AN/SPS-67, AN/SPS-49, AN/SPQ-9B, AN/SPS-73, and several other radar and communication systems.
