I look at it this way. According to my financial constraints and being a young investor (1.75 years) I have a long way to go. All the people who post here have a flavor for stocks ranging from $1 to who kows how high and know their stocks pretty well or otherwise wouldn't play this game. In my world, it's $5 and under, becuase I can't afford a block of 5000 at $10 per share. 5000 shares whether the stock is at $2 or $20, a spread of 1/2 is the same end result. I gotta' start somewhere.
Currently holding some pennies and not doing too many day trades til I get a better feel for the swings, and raise more capital thru profitable trades, whether they take 2 days or 30. I can't afford to lose any money now, even though I sometimes take a loss here or there, but usually am getting out at the right time before they drop another 1/2 a point or more. My plan is to have $100,000 then quit my job and day trade. Up until then, I'll constantly be reading, listening to these posts, and trying to gain as much understanding of everything day trading entails.
