I was using your term "righty excuse" as a term to describe your position that "if it isn't proven in a court of law I don't believe it to be true."

The fact is with many righties, even when it is proven in a court of law that their leader has been corrupt, it doesn't put a dent in their blind belief in their ideology.

There is no influencing a true believer. And many of the SI righties are true believers as described by Eric Hoffer.

As far as intelligence is concerned, I stand by my assertion that one who believes that the soldiers who misbehaved at Abu Graib did so independently and that none of the chain of command or private contractors had anything to do with it deserves to have their intelligence or lack of it insulted. It is so unbelievably naive.
