Now, in my opinion, you have gone off the 'deep end' into reality-denial, Tim.

(It's like saying that Dunkirk, Hitler allowing the British Expeditionary Force to escape back to sanctuary in England, 'was not significant to the outcome of WW II'.)

I'd argue that ANYTIME you let the operational leadership and operational brains of your combatant enemies (and their allies and backers) ESCAPE from certain military defeat and capture --- that THAT is CERTAINLY likely to be 'significant' when the histories are written.
